Urgent need to protect folk art and ancient tribal music: Dr Tamilisai

Hyderabad, Nov 12 (UNI) Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday said that there is an urgent need to protect folk art and ancient tribal music instruments to keep our traditions alive.
During her visit to the “Adi Dhwani”, an exhibition of 124 musical instruments of tribals, Ms Soundararajan admired them while going a round through the biennale.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the time has come to uplift the culture and musical art of tribals. Special measures have to be taken to protect these tribal musical tunes and instruments, she added.
She further assured that all possible help would be rendered to establish a museum for preserving all these tribal musical instruments.
Ms Soundararajan lauded the untiring efforts of Prof Jayadheer Thirumala Rao over the years in collecting these musical instruments.
The Governor later facilitated the Runjha, Thoti Burravadyam, Kikri, Koyadolu artists.
