Gangtok, Nov 9 (UNI) Consumers all over the country have been equipped with rights for the goods & services they pay for.
In Sikkim, late entrant in democratic fold and Union of India, these rights were heard of late. But now that Consumer’s Protection Act 1986,as amended from time to time, has been implemented in the country, State has also made rules (1990) also amended from time to time to protect the Rights of Consumers.
It has become easy to seek redressal of their grievances. The State has a growing number of consumers aware of their rights. They get redressal through concerned units constituted for the purpose. The aggrieved consumers have been reaching out to District Forum,State Commission and National Commission.Sikkimese consumers like their counterparts in other Indian States have been getting their grievances redressed through Consumer Dispute Redressal Agencies, on being cheated,in terms of Quality,Quantity or Unfair Trade Practices.
