UPERC issues notice to UPPCL, 5 subsidiaries over snapping of power of smart meters

Lucknow, Aug 13 (UNI) Taking suo motto cognizance of the tripping of smart meters and citing the gross violation of the UPERC electricity code 2005, the power regulator Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regularity Commission(UPERC) on Thursday issued show cause notice to the UPPCL and five subsidiaries.
The power regulator Commission has sought detailed report of the incident in terms of root cause analysis of this lapse along with the number of consumers whose supply was interrupted on this account. The regulator has also sought the information about the time taken to restore supply to all affected consumers.
It has given time till August 17 to submit the report of the queries by the power companies.
