Lucknow, Aug 7 (UNI) The Samajwadi Party, which shrank to just five seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, is now slowly seeing a decrease in its strength in the Rajya Sabha as well.
The seats vacated due to the demise of Beni Prasad Verma and Amar Singh are likely to go to BJP. Apart from this, SP is likely to win only two seats in the Rajya Sabha elections, slated to take place for nine seats in November. The tenure of Beni Prasad Verma and Amar Singh was till July 4, 2022.
Now, there will be by-elections on these two seats. The by-poll announcement has already been made for the Beni Prasad Verma seat. Total 31 members are elected for Uttar Pradesh's Rajya Sabha, in which two are vacant.
