UP Legislature passes supplementary budget of Rs 33,769 cr

Lucknow, Dec 6 (UNI) A supplementary budget of Rs Rs 33,769.52 crore for the current fiscal 2022-23 was passed by both the houses of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature on Tuesday.
In the supplementary budget tabled on the first day of the winter session of the Legislature on Monday Rs 14,000 crore were sought for the new schemes. It may be noted that earlier in May the Yogi government presented an annual budget of Rs 6.15 lakh crore for the financial year 2022-23.
After passing the budget and some ordinances the Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die.
During discussion on the supplementary grant in the Legislative Assembly member of Samajwadi Party (SP) Lalji Verma said that no provision has been made for the MLA fund. He said that the government is not working on the ground.
Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader Aradhana Mishra 'Mona' said that the government is spending a major portion of the budget on publicity. She said that Rs 300 crore is being incurred on the foreign visit of a group of ministers to invite investors for the Global Investors Summit to be organised in February.
Mishra demanded that a white paper should be brought on the investment made in the state after Investors Summit held in the past. She also demanded MLA fund should be exempted from Goods and Services Tax (GST).
It may be noted that in the supplementary grant the state government has sought Rs Rs 296 crore for organising the upcoming Global Investor Summit to be held in UP in February next year and Rs Rs 899 crore for Smart City project.
The government has sought a supplementary demand of Rs 200 crore for Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti scheme and Rs 100 crore to promote incubators and organise the start-ups.
The government has sought a grant of Rs 8,000 crore for industrial development authorities to develop private industrial parks and hubs.
Besides, a grant of Rs 521 crore has been sought for organising Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj in 2025 on a grand note and Rs 400 crore for the construction of court complexes in 10 districts under a pilot project.
Chief Minister Yogi's ambitious CM Fellowship scheme has also been taken care of in the budget, while financial proposals have been made for furthering Swachh Bharat Mission, Amrit Yojana, Smart City and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The budget provides Rs 2,000 crore for the widening and strengthening of roads and Rs 300 crore for distribution of free tablets and smart phones to youths under Swami Vivekanand Youth Empowerment Scheme. The budget proposes Rs 5 crore for the establishment of a music college at Hariharpur in Azamgarh.
To promote use of electric vehicles in the state, the government has sought Rs 100 crore for subsidy on electric vehicles under UP EV Manufacturing and Mobility Policy. To develop Ayodhya as a solar city under UP Solar Energy Policy, the government has sought Rs 2.50 crore.
To implement schemes run under the National Rural Health Mission, the government has sought another 1004.4 crore. In a bid to increase power generation in the state government has sought Rs 300 crore for setting up the 2000 megawatt Patampur Thermal Power Project and Rs 100 crore each for Haripur thermal power project and Panki project.
