UP legislative council polls: 10 from BJP, two from SP, elected unopposed

Lucknow,Jan 21 (UNI) All the 12 candidates--10 from Bharatiya Janata Party and two from Samajwadi Party--were on Thursday declared elected unopposed in the biennial Uttar Pradesh legislative council polls.
The announcement was made after the end of the withdrawals.Most of the candidates or their representatives were present to receive the certificate.
Earlier on Tuesday, during the scrutiny of the nominations, the papers of Independent Mahesh Chandra Sharma, who was the 13th candidate, were rejected on technical grounds.
