UP launches special drive on road safety

Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) Following the Kanpur incident in which 26 people were killed after a tractor-trolley overturned in a pond, the Traffic Directorate has decided to launch a 10-day awareness drive across Uttar Pradesh to prevent use of cargo vehicles and passenger vehicles and to make people aware about it.
Additional Director General of Police (ADG) and Director Traffic and Road Safety Anupam Kulshreshtha has issued an order to all the district level police chiefs and Police Commissioners on Sunday. The order has been issued following the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued earlier in the day during a high-level meeting.
In his letter, the ADG has stated that on the orders of the Director General of Police (DGP) an intensive campaign is being launched from Sunday for the next 10 days. Referring to the tractor trolley accidents in Kanpur district on Saturday night, he said that this initiative has been taken following the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to prevent such incidents in future.
