UP jail authorities issue guidelines for Covid treatment of prisoners

Lucknow, Sep 29(UNI)With the jail authorities already taking several measures to check the spread of coronavirus amongst the inmates besides adopting strict guidelines for treatment of the affected prisoners, the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Prisons, Anand Kumar on Tuesday sought more dedicated efforts of the local administration in combating the pandemic.
In a letter written to all the District Magistrates, Police Chiefs and other concerned authorities including the Chief Medical Officers on Tuesday, Mr Kumar while acknowledging and appreciating the assistance and support extended by the authorities in battling the menace of COVID in jails claimed that there are some issues of concern which need to be flagged.
Mr Kumar said that government guidelines clearly enunciate and predicate an aggressive testing, tracing , isolating and treating strategy. Despite this, there is very low testing of the inmates in few districts.
