UP govt to track billing of restaurants, eateries to prevent tax evasion

Lucknow, Feb 5(UNI) After announcing to charge 5 per cent entry tax on the items purchased through online portals, Uttar Pradesh government has now decided to keep a track on the billing of the restaurants, hotels and eateries, who mostly evade tax on the sale even after charging it from the customers.
Now state commercial taxes department would install a new gadget called ' billing machine tracker' with the computer of restaurants or eateries, and all the details would be made available to the department automatically.
Commercial Taxes Commissioner Mukhesh Meshram said today that efforts were on to enforce the billing machine tracker in the state every soon. " We have already installed the tracker in a big hotel in Noida after they were found not collecting taxes taken from the customers," he told UNI here.
