UP govt contradicts CAG report on rising crime against women during SP regime

Lucknow, Aug 24 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today strongly rejected the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report on the incidence of crime against women in the state and claimed that the crime rate has gone down during the past five years during the present Samajwadi Party regime.
State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan while taking up the matter in the State Assembly alleged that it is aconspiracy against the state government by defaming it on the law and order front.
"Actually, the crime rate has gone down by 6 to 33 per cent, but some fake studies have done to defame the state government," Mr Khan stated while adding that senior police officials would brief the media about it today.
