UP government repeals 15 redundant laws

Lucknow , Dec 20 (UNI) Fifteen laws which have either gone obsolete or become redundant in the current scenario have been repealed by Uttar Pradesh government after the tabling of the Uttar Pradesh Repealing Act, 2017 in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

Law minister Brijesh Pathak tabled the Bill in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

The need to repeal the Acts was felt by the state government after much deliberation and on the recommendation of the Law Commission of India.

The minister said, “On the recommendation of the Law Commission and the Ramanujam Committee constituted by the Central government, it has been decided to repeal such Acts as were notified by the Central government during President’s rule in the state and during the British Raj before Independence, and have become useless or obsolete.

Among the acts which have been repealed are: The Police (Agra) Act, 1854, The Mirzapur Stone Mahal Act, 1886, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (vote on account) Act 1980, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation Act, 1980, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation Act, 1993, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (No. 2) Act, 1993, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (vote on account) Act, 1996, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation Act 1996, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (Vote on Account) (No. 2) Act, 1996, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (No. 2 Act), 1996, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (Vote on Account Act) 1997, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation Act, 1997, The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (vote on account) Act, 2002 and The Uttar Pradesh Appropriation Act 2002.

First Vyapar Mala Express arrives with cargo in Tripura

Agartala, Aug 6 (UNI) Amid Covid pandemic the first cargo-carrying express goods train -
Vyapar Mala Express reached Tripura within 68 hrs from Delhi to Jirania covering 2360
kilometres distance with 58 wagons two days ago, transport department officials said
here today.
Officials stated this was a special type of cargo service where traders can book part
of the goods carrying rake as per their requirement or supply order. The first goods
express train Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) which left from Delhi Kishanganj station
of Northern Railway to Jirania station on August 1 last.

Spitting on doctor at Covid centre: Tripura HC cancels bail

Agartala, Aug 6 (UNI) Cancelling the bail by a local court, Tripura High Court today asked
all the four accused, including a government advocate, to surrender forthwith for spitting
on a lady doctor at a Covid centre two weeks ago and told police to conduct Test
Identification (TI) parade immediately.

cases during the last 24 hours while ten more covid patients succumbed to the virus raising
the total toll to 235.
