UP girls won maiden Federation Cup Handball championship: Services won the men's title

Ayodhya, Sep 15 (UNI) Host Uttar Pradesh girls wrested the title of the Federation Cup Handball championship here on Sunday by defeating the star stiffen and reigning champion Railways.

In the men's section Services beat Punjab in a do-or-die battle.

In the finals of the girls category UP team beat Railways by 19-17. From UP Swarmina scored six goals while Tejaswini netted 5 goals for the winners.

For Railways Jyoti scored 5 goals and Sristi netted 4 goals.

UP won the trophy for the first time. In the last championship UP came in the third spot.

In the men's final ,Services best arch rival Punjab in a thriller 25-24.

Sukhbir of Services scored 6 goals, while Tarun Thakur and Avin scored 5 goals each.

For Punjab, Gurminder and Hardev scored 5 goals each.

In the girls section Haryana and Himachal Pradesh were joint on third position while CISF and Chandigarh were joint on third place in mend section.
