UP Congress chief Ajay Rai visits rape victim's family in Kanpur, alleges police protection to accused SI

Kanpur, Jan 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on Wednesday made a sudden visit to Kanpur, where he met the family of a 14-year-old gangrape survivor in Sachendi. Rai spoke to the victim’s father and assured him of his party's full support.
Addressing the media, Rai alleged that a police sub-inspector (SI) raped the minor girl and that the police subsequently gave the accused officer an opportunity to escape. “He is a police officer—where can he run? The police themselves are protecting the accused sub-inspector,” Rai said.
Rai further alleged that before his arrival, the police forcibly took the victim away from her home.
