UP CM to honour 30 sportspersons including 10 Rio Olympic participants on Aug 29

Lucknow, Aug 27(UNI) In order to promote sports in the state , Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would be felicitating 30 eminent sports personalities of the state including 10 for participating in the just concluded Rio Olympics here on August 29, the National Sports Day.
While the 10 participants of the Rio Olympics from the state would receive a cash award of Rs 10 lakhs each, the remaining 20 sportsperson including one posthumously would get Rs 3.11 lakhs each on being selected for Rani Laxmibai and Laxman awards.
This would be the first time that the cash awards for Rani Laxmi Bai and Laxman Awards has been hiked to Rs 3.11 lakhs from Rs 51,000. Eleven sports persons have been selected for the awards for the year 2014-15 including three in the veteran category while 9 were selected for 2015-16 which includes two in the veteran category.
