UP civic polls: 52.85 pc polling in first phase

Lucknow, Nov 22 (UNI) An estimated 52.85 per cent of the 1.09 crore voters on Wednesday exercised their franchise in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh civic polls, sealing the fate of 26,314 candidates in the EVMs and ballot boxes for 4,325 seats in 230 urban local bodies.

Amid tight security arrangements, polling started on a brisk note at 0730 hrs and ended at 1700 hrs.
