UP Assy witnesses noisy scenes over 'Divyang' issue

Lucknow, Feb 27 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Thursday witnessed a heated debate between the Opposition and Treasury bench, when a former state minister questioned the BJP government on the benefits given to the differently-abled or 'Divyang' in the state.
Former UP minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, who was sacked by the Yogi Adityanath government just after the Lok Sabha polls in 2019, alleged that the government was not providing motorised tri-cyle to the 'Divyangjan,' as promised by the Chief Minister.
To this, state Divyang Minister Anil Rajbhar claimed that the government has hiked the pension from Rs 300 to Rs 500 per month for over one million Divyang residing in the state, which is highest in the country.

He also contested the charges of his predecessor, saying that the state government is going to hold a programme at Prayagraj on February 29, where over 26,000 Divyang would be given equipment by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However, noisy scenes were witnessed when Mr Prakash shouted, 'Naklo Se Savdhan,' which was countered by the Treasury bench.
The Minister also rejected the demand of members to hike the pension of the Divyang, to Rs 1000 per month.
