UP Assembly passes nine Bills: BJP opposes bill concerning IIMT varsity, Meerut

(Rptng, correcting headline)
Lucknow, Mar 8 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Assembly today approved nine Bills including two for setting up two new private Universities in the state.
However, BJP members objected to the Bill concerning the new IIMT University in Meerut, in which the students cannot challenge any decision of the vice-chancellor in the court or any other place while the employees can only approach the chancellor but not in the court.
"The Bill gives no justified rights to the students and employees of the new university to go against the VC or the Chancellor ,if they take any illegal decision," alleged BJP member Radha Mohan Das Agarwal.
However, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan, who himself is the chancellor of the Maulana Jauhar Ali university in Rampur, said," the VC and the Chancellor should be given power to run the university and the members should have faith on them."
Later, the Bill was passed without making any amendment. The Assembly also passed a Bill to set up a new Uttar Pradesh Harcourt Butler Technical University in Kanpur.
The BJP members also raised their objections on the UP Secondary Education Service Commission (Amendment)Bill 2016 which will make permanent the teachers working on adhoc basis before December 2000.
"This Bill will only give benefit to around 2000 teachers even as the reservation policy will curtailed down the figure further," Mr Agarwal said.
Most of the Bills were passed without any debate and in two Bills, the opposition too gave their support.
