UP Assembly disrupted over Aligarh issue; SP, Cong stage walkout

UP Assembly disrupted over Aligarh issue; SP, Cong stage walkout

Lucknow, Feb 24(UNI) Proceedings in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly were disrupted for about ten minutes on Monday over violence during anti-CAA protest in Aligarh.
Samajwadi Party and Congress members staged a noisy walk-out just before the Question Hour.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, the Opposition members raised the issue and demanded a debate on the matter.
Leader of the Opposition Ram Govind Chaudhary alleged that even the women were not spared and assaulted by police. A person also lost his life in the firing, he added.
"The situation in Aligarh is very tense with the innocent are being harassed," he said.
Countering Mr Chaudhary, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna charged the opposition with instigating violence and claimed that there was no death in the violence. "UP government is committed to maintaining law and order and will not spare the lawbreakers."

Mr Khanna said the opposition was just raising the issue and shedding crocodile tears.
However, on the pursuance of Speaker Hridya Narain Dikshit, the Opposition agreed to raise the issue during Zero Hour.
