UP: 15 get life sentences in 17-yr-old MLA, bodyguard's murder case

Bulandshahr (UP), Jan 30 (UNI) Fifteen people were sentenced to life imprisonment and penalty by a local court here in connection with the murder of the then MLA from Iglas seat in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district and his bodyguard 17 years ago, a prosecution officer said here.
District Government Counsel Rahul Upadhyaya said that on March 20, 2006 MLA from Iglas seat Malkhan Singh and his bodyguard Sunil Kumar were shot dead while taking a stroll in front of the legislator's house in Mansarovar Colony. "Singh's brother Dalveer Singh lodged an FIR citing political rivalry along with property dispute as the reason behind the murder," he said.
He said during the investigation the police made 19 people, including former chairman of Zila Panchayat Tejveer Singh Guddu, accused in the case.
