Untimely rain may affect good game at Eden Gardens as firm favourites

Untimely rain may affect good game at Eden Gardens as firm favourites

India take on Sri Lanka in first Test tomorrow

Kolkata, Nov 15 (UNI) Though India are a firm favourites when they

host the visiting Sri Lanka for first of the 3-Test series in home at

Eden Gardens tomorrow,

doubts are cast among the crazy cricket fans about watching a good game

from Virat Kholi's brigade following sudden arrival of rain cloud

from coastal areas forcing

the CAB to cover the entire ground and preventing the rival sides from

having on field practice.

India. having a wonderful year with back-to–back series wins and each

and every player performing their best in fielding, batting and

bowling taking the side

for the goal. The Men in Blue are now the top team in ICC rankings for

Tests as well as ODIs. The Virat Kohli's side is set to become the

world T20 champions as well.

Sri Lanka, however, are not looking so good to counter India's run of

triumph. They had a devastating tour in UAE against Pakistan even

after winning the 2-Test series

against them, the Islanders lost all ODIs and T20Is after that.

Captain Dinesh Chandimal's boys are now looking forward for a change

of fortunes with their tour of India and win back the respect. The

aim of the team is going to be to sweep the series, a repeat of what

India did to them on their home ground.

India's Ravindra Jadeja and Ravinchandran Ashwin would be playing in

this Test match and if the pitch turns pre-dicatably, they are going

to have a field day with Sri Lankan batsmen. Rohit Sharma smashed 264

against Sri Lanka on this very ground in November, 2014 and if he

plays, this is going to be a fun match to watch. Virat Kohli and

Ajinkya Rahane are the best test players of India.

Sri Lankans have had trouble keeping a partnership running, which is

really important when it comes to tests. Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan

Dickwella led Sri Lanka to victory by playing wonderfully in the test

against Pakistan; they will be gearing up to do the same in India.

Dimuth Karunaratne is expected to continue with his Pakistan form and

Rangana Herath, Sri Lanka’s star spinner is expected to be a thorn for

the Indian side.

The Sri Lankan side may be low on confidence, but the Pakistan win

would have boosted their confidence, and let’s not forget, when in

form they are a formidable team to face on the ground. Therefore, if

Sri Lanka puts up a fight, the men in blue may not have it as easy as

they did last time around.

Since 2011 across all formats India have won 31 matches to Sri Lanka's

8. Both teams have undergone major transitions in this period - while

Sri Lanka have struggled to find consistency in their results, India

have cruised to one series victory after another, staking claim to the

top spot in the ICC Test rankings.
