UNSC strongly condemns Houthi terror attack, expresses condolences to India, Pak over deaths

United Nations, Jan 21 (UNI) The UN Security Council on Friday condemned in the “strongest terms the heinous terrorist attacks” in Abu Dhabi on January 17 and expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the two Indians and a Pakistani national who were killed, and to the governments of India and Pakistan.
In a press statement, the UNSC said the attacks, which were committed and claimed by the Houthis, resulted in 3 civilian deaths and 6 other civilians injured.
The members of the Security Council also wished a speedy and full recovery to the six persons, who include two Indians, who were injured.
“The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.”
They underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice, and urged all States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with the Government of the United Arab Emirates and all other relevant authorities in this regard.
The members also reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed.
They reaffirmed the need for all States to combat by all means, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and other obligations under international law, including international human rights law, international refugee law and international humanitarian law, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts.
Monday's drone attack launched by the Houthis caused three tankers to explode in the Adnoc oil terminal area in Mussaffah, Abu Dhabi, and led to the deaths of two Indians and a Pakistani worker there.
