Unlock 5: Lockdown extended in containment zones till Oct 31, all religious spots to open from Oct 8

Ranchi, Oct 1 (UNI) The Jharkhand Government on Thursday came out with a fresh set of directives under Unlock 5 amid the prevailing Coronavirus pandemic as per which it has been decided to extend the lockdown in conatinment zones till October 31 however all places of religious worship would be opened from October 8.
As per the order issued by the Home Prison and Disaster Management Department the SOPs have been also laid for organizing Durga Puja.
The order said that the festival of Durga Puja is schedule in the month of October. During Durga Puja huge Pandal or Mandap are erected and people gather in these venues in large numbers. A large number of Puja committee organisers organise Mela and cultural and entertainment programs which again witness the confluence of a large number of people. Huge crowds are also witnessed on the streets while immersion of the idols is accompanied by processions of large number of people. In some places Dussehra is celebrated with the burning of effigy of Ravan in public places where a large number of people gather. The order further said that there have been reports of spike in the number of active cases following a religious congregation in Delhi and consequent to a festival in Maharashtra in Kerala whereas the number of active cases in the state continues to be high and the the coronavirus continues to be extremely infectious as well as lethal in many cases.
