Union MoS Bhagat says BJP not anti-Christian

Kohima, Oct 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State (MoS) for Tribal Affairs Sudershan Bhagat has stated that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was neither anti-Christian nor anti-Naga, saying there was no truth in such criticisms and that all these were “malicious politically fuelled propaganda charges”.
According to a release by Nagaland BJP general secretary (media) Jaangsillung Gonmei today said Mr Bhagat, who was on a three-day visit to Nagaland, was addressing BJP party workers on Thursday at BJP state party office here.
Sudershan said, “BJP is very much a truly secular party and respects every religion, castes and tribes to bring about a harmonious cohesive society to build
a strong nation.” He insisted that BJP-led NDA Government has left no stone unturned to address any genuine instances of religious and social atrocities anywhere in the country.
Asserting that such political propagandas concerning religions and castes only cause a disharmonious society and derail peace and progress, he said it should avoided and focus should be on building the cities villages and towns for a better society for all citizens irrespective of religions, castes or tribes.
Sudershan reminded the gathering that Naga political issue had been under “active dialogue for lasting peace” under BJP Government at the Centre led by the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “There has been no pause which is indicative that the BJP government is not slack concerning the welfare of the Nagas,” claimed Sudershan.
The MoS also asserted that BJP government was very concerned for the welfare of the North Eastern States particularly the tribal.
He added that because of this concern for tribal including North East tribal, former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee constituted the Tribal Ministry in 1999 and also the DONER ministry in 2001.
He said the current Prime Minister has directed all Union Ministers to visit the North East States every 15 days on rotation basis to monitor the development process under process of implementation and further assuage the scope of development of various aspects in the region. Sudershan highlighted the party workers on various central schemes and programmes, the release said.
