Hassan, Dec 1(UNI) Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari laid foundation stones for three road works involving Rs 1,865 Crores here on Saturday.
Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Minister for PWD H D Revanna were present on the occasion.
The improvement and reconstruction of 125 km of NH 373, between Belur in Hassan and Bilikere near Mysuru will be taken up. The works include construction of two major bridges, nine minor bridges, 91 culverts, one railway over bridge and 17 junctions. The widening of Banavara-Huliyar section of NH 234 involves construction of six minor bridges, 64 culverts and eight intersections.
The NH 75 bypass in Channarayapatna and Hassan would be widened to four lane. Many accidents were reported in the existing two-lane bypass road, necessitating a widening project.
The Union Government will fund the project.
