Union Minister Babul Supriyo to visit Bulbul hit Bokkhali & Namkhana tomorrow on advise of PM Modi

Kolkata, Nov 12 (UNI) Union Minister Babul Supriyo, on the advise of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi, is scheduled to visit Bulbul hit Bokkhali and Namkhana in South 24 Parganas tomorrow
where cyclonic storms on Friday and Saturday left a trail of destruction rendering thousands of people homeless after their kutcha houses razed to the ground.
Babul Supriyo's visit will be the official as the state government was already apprised about
the schedules where the union minster would interact with the affected people as well as the
government officials regarding arrangements for proper evacuation and supply of essentials.
The minster said he will report to the union government of his study at the storm and rain
affected district.
He said the visit was not any political.
A separate report said that a central team is expected here on Friday and visit the affected
areas to study the ground situation there.
Both the prime minister and union home minister Amit Shah had spoken to West Bengal
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday and assured all the central assistance to tide
over the present situation arose from the Bulbul storms, which some 10 people have been
killed. Eight fishermen were still missing after their anchored trawlers capsized in the river.
Ms Banerjee on Monday made an aerial survey and then talked to affected people at
Bakkhali and Namkhana and announced contingency plan to save the affected people.
She also announced Rs 2 lakh each to the families whose near and dear one killed in
the storms.
Three task forces are being set up under the leadership of chief secretary for South 24
Parganas, North 24 Parganas and East Medinipur.
