Union Home Minister meets Probationary Officers of IPS, 2020 batch

New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday met 122 probationary officers of the 2020 batch of the Indian Police Service, here.

In his address to the officials, the Union Home Minister said that the government is emphasizing the use of forensic science in collaboration with the state governments and efforts are being made to set up mobile forensic labs in every district of the country, a statement from the Home Ministry said here on Friday.
Apart from this, efforts are also being made to form a team in every district of the country to prevent cyber crime. Forensic evidence will be made mandatory in all cases involving a sentence of more than six years. If the support system of criminals is destroyed then they will not be able to do anything.

He said that all the officers should pay attention to the issues related to the internal security of the country in totality and there is a need for coordination at the national level to prevent crimes like smuggling of fake currency, arms smuggling, drugs without interfering with the rights of the states and respecting the spirit of the Constitution.

Shah said that an IPS officer will be able to discharge his duties well only when he understands the language, history and social structure of the state of his cadre well. Officers should become a good team leader who cares for the interests of their colleagues, only then they can take everyone along and bring a change in the image of the police.

There are a total of 139 probationary officers in the batch, of which 17 foreign trainee officers are from Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal. Of the 122 Indian probationary officers, 97 are male officers and 25 are female officers. These officers will go to different places for district practical training of 29 weeks.
