Union govt handled Covid-19 well: Joshi

Hubballi, Oct 31 (UNI) Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Coal, Prahlad Joshi categorically stated here on Saturday that the lockdowns have saved India from Covid 19 pandemic from spreading dangerously in the country. This was undoubtedly proven from the fact that many countries in the world today, including United Kingdom are now going for imposing lockdowns.
Addressing a function here this evening organized by the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce Hubballi to honour Corona Warriors, Mr. Joshi said that when Corona Started, there was only one Lab in the country, but today there are 2030 Labs are operating and Eleven Lakh persons are getting Covid 19 Tests done Per day now in the Country. This was the result of the Center’s quick action through a Cabinet decision in entrusting the job of opening new Labs and related responsibilities to AIIMS from the ICMR, he said.
Referring to the opposition Criticism about Lock down results, he drew their attention to various actions taken by the Government to control the pandemic including the fact that 20,000 (Twenty thousand) Railway Coaches were prepared to handle any eventuality by converting them into Covid 19 Hospitals. PPE Kits and Ventilators were not at all available in the country and were being imported prior to Covid 19. But today, they are indigenously Manufactured in the country. The opposition had called the lockdown as Un-Planned, But Looking at the density of the population of our Country, can they even imagine what could have happened, if the Lockdowns were not imposed, he asked.
