Union Coal Minister demands Cong govt to probe into irregularities in Singareni

Union Coal Minister demands Cong govt to probe into irregularities in Singareni

Hyderabad, June 22 (UNI) Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday demanded the Congress Government in Telangana to order a probe into the looting and bill manipulation in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) during the previous BRS-led K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) government.
If the Congress government-led by Revanth Reddy is sincere then it should immediately order a comprehensive probe into the previous BRS government's role in destroying state-owned Singareni,” Kishan Reddy said.
Speaking to media persons here, the Union Minister said the central government would write a letter to the Telangana government requesting to order a probe into irregularities and other wrongdoings committed by the previous BRS government in Singareni.
Amid allegations that the BJP-led government at the Centre was hatching a conspiracy to privatise Singareni, Kishan Reddy reiterated that the interests of Singareni and its workforce will not be compromised and that the Centre would work towards the development of the company.
He alleged that the previous BRS government, Ministers and MLAs looted the SCCL and weakened it financially.
He also accused the former Chief Minister KCR of using SCCL for his political gains, ignoring the interests of employees who are dependent on it.
The Centre holds a 49 per cent stake in Singareni and it was its responsibility as much as it was of the Telangana government to protect the interest of Singareni, the Union Minister said
There is no question of harming the interest of Singareni at any cost. We will see that the interests of the workers are taken care of and the company progresses in all the fields, ”he said.
The central government is conducting coal mine auctions transparently adhering to the Apex court directions and corruption-free, he said that state governments would receive 14 per cent of the revenue through these auctions, however, the central government would not get a single rupee from this, he clarified.
