UNESCO, Royal Enfield celebrates International ICH Day with Great Himalayan Exploration showcase at UN House

Mumbai, Oct 15 (UNI) In the lead up to International Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Day on October 17, UN India, UNESCO and Royal Enfield came together to celebrate the living heritage of the Indian Himalayan region through the screening of ‘The Great Himalayan Exploration’ - a collaborative project dedicated to documenting and safeguarding the region’s rich cultural practices.
As defined by UNESCO, Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) encompasses the practices, expressions, knowledge and skills that communities, groups and sometimes individuals recognise as part of their cultural heritage.
Launched in 2022, The Great Himalayan Exploration has traversed 11 geographies - including Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Assam, North Bengal - documenting over 100 ICH practices and engaging with over 250 communities.

Criminals posing as police, rob senior citizens with gold jewellery in Nagpur

Nagpur, Nov 10 (UNI) In a spate of audacious daylight frauds, criminals posing as police officers robbed elderly residents across Nagpur, making off with gold jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees, officials said on Monday
In the first case, Tehsil area, around 10:45 am near Amarkar Jewellers on Itwari Road, four men convinced 55-year-old Mamta Dhadiwal that they were police officers and persuaded her to hand over her gold jewellery. The culprits fled with valuables worth approximately Rs 3.7 lakh.

BJP to contest all municipal elections independently in Parbhani district

Parbhani, Nov 10 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced that it will contest all upcoming municipal elections in Parbhani district independently, without entering into alliances or seat-sharing arrangements. The decision was confirmed by district party president Suresh Bhumare, who said the party is confident of achieving significant success across the seven municipal bodies in the district, located in Marathwada region.
