United Nations, Aug 15 (UNI) The United Nations Security Council on Saturday resoundingly rejected a bid by the United States to extend a global arms embargo on Iran.
Dominican Republic was the only country that supported the US' resolution which calls for indefinitely extending the embargo against Iran, leaving it far short of the minimum nine "yes" votes required for adoption, Al Jazeera reported.
Eleven of the 15 members of the body, including France, Germany and the United Kingdom, abstained.
