Ukraine boxers cycle around Assam zoo

Guwahati, Nov 16 (UNI) Boxers from Ukraine had a ‘taste of the wild’ today in the heart of Guwahati city, the venue for the AIBA Youth Women’s World Boxing Championship that will get underway on Novermber 19 next.

The team from Ukraine reached the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden located in a natural hill in the midst of the city, this morning for a cycling expedition.

The boxers paddled through the length and breadth of the Zoo, enjoying the scenic beauty and clicking photographs.

A local escort said the team had shown interest in visiting the Zoo and accordingly the trip was planned.

Over 130 boxers from 38 countries will be competing in 10 weight categories in the Championship, with most of the teams also in the city, including host India.

The Championship, which will serve as a qualification event for the Youth Olympic Games at Buenos Aires 2018, is scheduled to be held at Guwahati from November 19 to 26 next.
