UK: Tory MP Paul Holmes quits government over Sue Gray report

London, May 27 (UNI) Tory MP Paul Holmes quit as a ministerial aide citing the "deep mistrust" created by Sue Gray's report on lockdown parties at Downing Street, at the peak of the Covid-19 lockdown, BBC reported on Friday.
Paul Holmes, an assistant to Home Secretary Priti Patel, said he was "shocked and angered" by the revelations in the report, adding that his work for his constituents had been "tarnished by the toxic culture that seemed to have permeated No 10" and that the controversy had taken a "great deal of time away" from government efforts to tackle the cost of living crisis.
Ms Gray's report highlighted widespread Covid rule-breaking and drunkenness and that the prime minister and his officials "must bear responsibility for this culture".
