UAS should lead to holistic development through adoption of villages: Minister

Bengaluru, Nov 28 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Agriculture B C Patil on Saturday underlined that University of Agriculture Sciences (UAS) should lead holistic development through adoption of villages across the State.
In his address at the 54th Convocation of the Agricultural University (UAS) here on Saturday, he said that there are as many as six UAS functioning in the State. They should think about adopting at least four villages every year and try to contribute to the overall development of agriculture in those villages and make them model villages.”
“There were no amendments made to the Agriculture Department rules of appointment from the last 20 years. He took interest and the responsibility and now amended recently. Accordingly, 15 per cent of the jobs have been reserved for candidates who do graduation in food and agriculture related subjects, ”he added.
