Two youths drown in Ganderbal

Srinagar, Aug 24 (UNI) Two persons, including a minor boy, drowned in separate water-bodies at different places in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, official sources said here on Friday.
They said that a 14-year-old boy, identified as Nadeem Ahmad Mir, was on a picnic at ‘Environment Park’ in Kangan with his friends on Friday.
“Mir drowned while taking a bath with his friends at a nearby power canal,” they said, adding a search operation has been launched to recover the boy of the minor.
In another incident, one Latif Ahmad Ganie drowned when he was taking a bath on Thursday in a stream in Fateh Pura, Ganderbal. “Other people present at the spot also jumped into the stream, but could not save him,” they said.
They said that the body of the man was fished out and handed over to his relatives for last rites.

Chandigarh, Jan 18 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of former Karnal MP and Editor-In-Chief of Punjab Kesari, Delhi Newspaper, Ashwini Kumar Chopra. The 65 year-old Chopra was ailing for long. He is survived by wife, three sons and two grandsons.
