Two young siblings drown after falling into canal in Nanded district

Nanded, Nov 11 (UNI) A heart-wrenching tragedy has struck Neemgaon village in the Ardhapur administrative division of Nanded district, where two small children from the same extended family drowned after accidentally slipping into a canal near their home. The devastating incident has plunged the local community into profound grief and mourning.
An official said on Tuesday that the deceased have been identified as Sharwani Vitthal Chavan (3) and Swastik Sachin Rathod (2½). According to police reports, both children had accompanied their families to visit their grandmother’s residence in Neemgaon. Sharwani’s mother, a resident of Belkhed locality in Ayutthaya district, had travelled to Neemgaon with her daughter to spend time with her family.
The tragic event occurred while the two children were playing in an open area close to their grandmother’s house, where water had accumulated in a nearby irrigation canal. During play, both youngsters reportedly lost their footing and fell into the deep water. When the children failed to return home after a considerable period, their families and local villagers launched a desperate search across the neighbourhood.
