Two underage cousin brothers drowned in Aurangabad pond

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jul 16 (UNI) Two underage cousin brothers who had gone for a swim, along with one of the boy's father, were drowned in a pond at Mitmita, near here, on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Sumit Shankar Gholap (15) and his cousin Rohit Deshmukh (8).
Sumit's father Shankar had taken his son and his nephew Rohit for bath to the pond at Mitmita village on Aurangabad-Mumbai road this morning at around 1030 hours, police said..
First, they all had a bath at the shore of the pond and later they ventured into deep water for swimming, however, as they did not know the depth of the water, they started drowning.
Upon noticing the tragic incident, the nearby brick-kline workers swam to the spot and they could only rescue Shankar.
In the meantime, one of the eyewitnesses informed about the incident to the Chavani police who summoned the Fire Brigade team to the spot.
The Fire Brigade personnel then fished out the bodies of both the boys and rushed them to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where they were declared brought dead by the doctors.

A case of accidental death has been registered with Chavani police in this regard, sources added.
