Two thieves who posed as policemen arrested

Thane, Jul 12 (UNI) With the arrest of two people, the Palghar
District Rural Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of
impersonators who allegedly robbed the people of their ornaments by
posing as policemen.
Acting on numerous complaints of robbery and chain-snatching by
persons claiming to be policemen, teams of police personnel were
formed whose members visited Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Nagpur and Akola
among other places in search of the accused criminals, police said.
Finally, the police traced the two accused who were the main players
in the thefts and arrested them.
Following the arrest of the duo, police said total 16 cases of
thefts and 8 of cheating have been detected, police said and
informed that stolen booty including 410 gm of gold ornaments worth
around Rs 12.54 lakh was recovered from them.
The arrested accused were identified as Firoz Ehasan Ali (resident
of Katol of Nagpur) and Jamal Yusuf Sayyed Ali (from Hoshangabad of
There are 16 offences of theft registered against Firoz at the
police stations of Satpati, Palghar, Virar, Valiv, Tulinj, Nalla
Sopara, Wada, Arnala, Manickpur and Boisar.
While, there are eight offences registered against Jamal at the
various police stations in the district, sources added.
