Two poachers arrested along with seizure of nine mynas smuggled from Bihar

Siliguri, May 24 (UNI) Two poachers have been arrested, along with a seizure of nine live mynas, taking birds smuggled from Bihar, while the avian was on a consignment for exporting neighbouring Nepal, forest ranger Sanjoy Dutta said today.
He said they laid a trap following a tip off a smuggling racket of wildlife articles, flying animals and avian to Nepal using this north Bengal district as a corridor connecting Bihar, and two poachers were arrested while they were fleeing on a motor bike with the consignment. The arrest was made on Thursday evening.
A talking can even fetch Rs 10,000 with an average price between Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 local market. The price is higher if it exported to neighbouring countries.
Mr Dutta said a gang of about 20-25 has been working in the region trading wildlife articles and poaching animals.
He said the duo would be produced before a court later on Friday.
