Two held in cricket betting, Rs 4.70 lakh cash seized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Apr 26 (UNI) The city police has arrested two businessmen for indulging in cricket betting and seized cash of Rs 4.70 lakh from their possession in the city while the prime accused Suraj, residing at Surat (Gujarat) is absconding.

On a tip-off that, the accused persons are collecting huge betting amounts from punters in connection with the IPL Cricket match between RCB Vs Kings XI Punjab teams on Wednesday last , the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, Hyderabad apprehended the accused persons at Basheerbagh in the city while the accused persons Adesh and Mohith Agarwal carrying the cash and trying to handing over the cricket betting collection to Suraj.

Besides cash of Rs 4.70 lakhs, also seized 2-cell phones at the instance from the accused persons, Commissioner’s Task Force (Hyderabad City) Additional Deputy commissioner of Police S.Chaitanya Kumar said in a release here on Friday.
The Prime accused Suraj is organising cricket betting from Surat and accepting cricket betting in and around Hyderabad from the punters with the help of his friends.
The accused persons along with seized property handed over to Narayanguda Police Station House Officer for taking further action against them.

AP Governor to hold Vice Chancellors' conference

Vijayawada, July 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan will be holding a conference of the Vice Chancellors of Universities in the State on Friday, to be held through video conference from Raj Bhavan here.
A statement from the Governor’s office said here on Thursday that the Vice Chancellors’ conference is organized by the AP State Council of Higher Education on the subject of “Challenges being faced by the Institutions of Higher Education during the COVID-19 pandemic and the way out.”
"The issues such as challenges faced by the higher education institutions such as disruption in conduct of regular classes in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic, UGC guidelines on conduct of final year examinations and the way forward, will be discussed during the conference".

Police arrests 3 criminals, seize country-made pistol, bullets and sickles
