Two criminals killed in encounter in Meerut; two cops injured

Meerut, Sep 12 (UNI) Two dreaded criminals were shot dead by policemen in an encounter in Kankarkhera area of the district.

Senior Superintendent to Police (SSP) Ajay Sahani said here police was checking the vehicles at Kankarkhera when two motorcycle-borne criminals tried to escape after firing on the policemen Sudhir and Rahul. Later, after a long chase, the criminals were shot dead at Sardhana road late Wednesday night.

Both the police constables were admitted to the hospital with bullet injuries. SHO Vijay Pal Singh too was shot at by the criminals, but the bullet hit his bullet proof jacket.
The criminals were identified as Shahzad and Pankaj alias Bunty- had a reward of Rs 50,000 each on their head.
SSP said two country-made pistols and a motorcycle without number plate was recovered from the possession of the deceased criminals.
Both the criminals were natives of Budhana area of Muzaffarnagar district and wanted in dozens of criminal cases.
