Two children charred to death as thatch catches fire

Agra (UP), June 7 (UNI) Two children were charred to death and one more was injured when a thatched roof caught fire in Basai Jagner area of Agra district here in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Virendra (32), a resident of Karhaki village, lives with his wife and five children in the Jatav locality. "Virendra had put a thatch on the terrace of his house," they said.
Police sources said that around noon the thatch caught fire due to a short circuit in the overhead power line. "Virendra's two children Rachna (7) and five and a half year old Harsh were playing under the thatch, whereas three more children Kanak (4), Vinesh (3) and six month old Alok were sleeping nearby when the thatch caught fire," they said.
