Two arrested with 30-kg poppy straw in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 6 (UNI) Jammu Police today arrested two persons alongwith contraband of poppy straw in two separate incidents here.
Police intercepted a tax on way from Kashmir to Punjab near Manda here on city outskirts.
"During checking of the vehicle, nine-kg of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of the passenger,’’ police said adding that he was arrested on the spot while a case under NDPS Act has been registered and investigation started.
Police said accused person belongs to Pathankot District of Punjab State and was carrying the contraband to Punjab.
In a separate incident, police stopped a car for checking at Sainik Colony in Channi Himmat area and during search of the vehicle, 21 Kgs of Poppy Straw was from the possession of driver.
A case has been registered and investigation started.
