Shimla, Sep 22 (UNI) As many as fifteen people, including four women, died in separate accidents here on Saturday.
Police said a tempo traveller carrying about 13 passengers, rolled down deep into a gorge at Sanail near
Kuddo of Jubbal in the district.
Police Chief Shimla Om Pati Jamwal confirmed that nine people died on the spot, while four others succumbed on the way and in the hospital.
The wreckage of the ill-fated vehicle after the impact spilled apart and deformed causing most of casualties.
The vehicle was carrying the victims to Tunni of Uttarakhand from Hortkoti when the mishap occurred.
The deceased included mostly relatives and members of two families, including four women identified as Manoj (35), son of Dharmdas Village Chonri of Jubbal, Matwar Singh(48), son of Bhajan Dass village Nadla of Chirgaon, Basanti Devi((40), wife of Matwar Singh, Munish(24), son of Matwar Singh Utar Singh(44), son of Bhajan Dass, Munna Devi( 38), wife of Uttar Singh, Prem Singh (38), son of Kishan Dass Village Dhara of Rohru, Poonam(28), wife of Prem Singh and Bitu (42) of village Nadla.
The four people who died on the way or in Sarswatinagar Hospital are yet to be identified.
In another mishap, two workers from Uttarakhand and Nepal were buried under the rubbles of a cave-in
retaining wall at Bafadchalal village under Chirgaon in the district on Saturday.
Reports arriving here said one of the deceased was identified as Manoj Singh Bisht and another
person between 35 to 45 yrs of age is yet to be identified.
Both of them came under the spate of cave-in retaining wall and declared brought dead at Sandasu
hospital in Chirgaon Tehsil of this district.
The deceased were unloading concrete chips from a vehicle when the accident took place. Heavy rainfall
in the state is wrecking havoc in the area.
