Twitter challenges central govt in Ktk HC for issuing blocking order on political content

Bengaluru, July 5 (UNI) Twitter has approached Karnataka High Court, challenging the state government’s orders to take down content under the new IT rules, alleging that blocking of political content posted from political parties' handles is a violation of the freedom of speech guaranteed to citizen users of the platform.
Twitter also termed the blocking orders "overbroad and arbitrary," as it failed to issue notice to the political parties that posted the content.
Reacting to Twitter's plea in the court, State IT Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar said that all the foreign internet platforms have the right to move the court, but have an unambiguous obligation to comply with the Indian rules.
