New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) Bollywood actress and writer Twinkle Khanna on Friday remembered her father and Industry’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna on his 75th birth anniversary.
Twinkle Khanna, who shares her birthday with her father, posted on her social media account an old picture of herself with her father "Happy birthday Dad," she wrote on Instagram.
Rajesh Khanna, who made his debut in the year 1966 with Aakhri Khat, died of cancer in July 2012.
Known as Bollywood’s first superstar, Rajesh Khanna was the star of hit films like Aradhana, Anand, Kati Patang and Safar.
In a career spanning for over more than four decades, Rajesh Khanna featured in more than 160 films.
He was officially given the title of 'The First Superstar' of Indian cinema title at the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards. Rajesh Khanna also had a brief stint in politics as an MP from New Delhi.
On this occasion, Bollywood celebrities like Rishi Kapoor and Kunal Kohli remembered the 70s' superstar.
Actor Rishi Kapoor, who was Rajesh Khanna's co-star in ‘Zamana’, tweeted an old picture of them.
"Remembering one of the greatest romantic heroes of our times on his birthday 29th December. Rajesh Khanna. The first Superstar! This is from the film Zamana (1985)," Mr Kapoor tweeeted.
Paying tributes to Rajesh Khanna, filmmaker Kunal Kohli said, "happybdayRajeshKhanna India’s first superstar. No one sang romantic songs like him. Loved his adaa. His eyes spoke so much. My fav Rajesh Khanna film is Amar Prem.’’
On Twinkle Khanna’s 43rd birthday, her husband and actor Akshay Kumar also wished her.
Akshay, who is currently on a family holiday, shared a photograph of the two traveling in a convertible.
“Forever making every ride full of adventure and amusement, my favourite companion… for life! Happy birthday, Tina,” he captioned the image.
Twinke, who made her debut in Bollywood with ‘Barsaat’ went on to do only a few more movies, following which she took up interior designing. She is now a successful entrepreneur, an author and columnist.
She is also venturing into film production with Padman, which features Akshay.
Directed by R Balki, ‘Padman’, releasing on January 26, is based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, who created a revolution in the field of affordable menstrual hygiene.
