Twenty rebel TMC MPs announce merger with NCPI, seek separate seating in Lok Sabha

Kolkata, June 14 (UNI) The unprecedented rebellion within the Trinamool Congress parliamentary party in the Lok Sabha became messier on Sunday after 20 rebel MPs formally informing Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that they were merging with a new political outfit, the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI).
The rebel MPs met the Speaker at his residence in New Delhi and sought separate seating arrangements in the Lok Sabha following their decision to part ways with the Trinamool Congress.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said, “We met the Speaker and requested separate seating arrangements for us in the Lok Sabha. We have formally informed him that we are merging with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India.”
