Panaji, Nov 28 (UNI) Turkish film 'Cold of Kalandar' bagged the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the 47th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) which concluded here today. The ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal was awarded to Turkish filmmaker Mustafa Kara’s film. The award, instituted by the International Council for Film & Television, Paris and UNESCO is given to a film that portrays the Gandhian values of peace and harmony. Kara’s ‘Cold of Kalandar’, set in a mountain village in the Black Sea region, is also Turkey’s official entry for ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ category of Oscar Awards. The other films in the fray were Allama (Kannada), The Apology (Canada), Beluga (Iran), Exiled (Latvia), The Family (Dementia) (France), Harmonia (Isreal) and A Real Vermeer (Netherlands). 'Cold of Kalandar' has been directed by Mustafa Kara whose debut feature in 2006 was Hope Island, a co-production between Turkey and the United Kingdom. UNI AKM SS NP SNU 0021
