TTD invests 7000 kgs of gold in SBI at 2.5 pc interest

Tirumala, Apr 25 (UNI) Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), the administrators of world famous Sri Venkateswara temple here withdrew around 7000 kilos of TTD's Gold in SBI under short term scheme from existing 1 per cent rate of interest and depositing the same under long term deposit plan at 2.5 per cent interest in the same bank.
Announcing this at a press conference here after Trust Board meeting, TTD Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy who is chairing the last meet of the board after completing two years term thanked every one including the board members, TTD officials, employees, pilgrims, locals and media for their support in successfully implementing some important developmental works during his tenure.
He said that a new scheme Srivari Anugraham would be introduced from June first week for more transparent services of booking of arjitha Seva tickets through electronic dip system.
The board has approved Rs 15 lakh for the cottages in Madhavam and Rs 10 lakh for cottages and Rs.18 lakh for suite in Vishnunivasam rest house under Cottage Donor Management Scheme(CDMS), he said.
The TTD Chief said that the board has given nod for enhancement of wages to 492 Potu workers at Rs 3000 per month as a fixed incentive for their efforts in taking the total laddu preparation to cross 10 crore for the first time in the history of TTD.
He said that TTD had earned a revenue of Rs 5.27 crore on auction of human hair for the month of March 2017.
The board has approved the sanction of Rs 72 lakh towards the preparation of Silver Pattabhisheka Peetham weighing around 142 kilos to Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple in Tirupati and Rs 2.52 crore sanctioned towards the construction of Sarva Darshanam Complex in Narayanagiri Gardens in Tirumala, he said.
Dr Krishnamurthy said the board also gave nod to sanction Rs 46.35 lakh towards the construction of Rajagopuram to Sri Malayanna Perumal Swamy temple in Gajulamandem of Chittoor district and Rs 67 lakh towards the construction of temple of Sri Purnambikeswara Swamy in Unguturu mandal of Kagupadu village in West Godavari district. Out of which, TTD will spend Rs 37 lakh and the rest of the amount will be borne by villagers, Mr Krishnamurthy said.
