Trump questions Kamala Harris' citizenship and eligibility

Trump questions Kamala Harris' citizenship and eligibility

Washington, Aug 14 (UNI) President Donald Trump has raised questions about the birthplace and eligibility of Senator Kamala Harris, who, if elected, would be the first Black and Asian American vice president of the United States.
Trump's tweet about Harris was part of a Thursday self-described "news conference" which he largely used to campaign against his Democratic rival Biden and Harris where he made a series of false claims about former Vice President Joe Biden, Democrats at large, former President Barrack Obama, and, also about mail-in voting, CNN reported.
Addressing media persons, Trump said he had referred to a Newsweek article by Chapman University professor John Eastman while questioning whether Harris might be ineligible to be elected as president and vice president.
Trump then said he has "no idea" whether it is true that Harris does not meet the requirements. He then asked the reporter if she was saying Harris doesn't qualify because Harris "wasn't born in this country."
Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California to a Jamaican father and Indian mother makes her a natural-born citizen of the United States and hence she meets the Constitution's requirements to serve as vice president or president.
Trump has frequently raised similar questions on the citizenship of his predecessor Barack Obama.
