Tripura tribal parties in unification mode: IPFT demands BJP to leave ADC fight

Agartala, Sept 19 (UNI) Amid anticipation of floating a new party by royal scion and incumbent Pradesh Congress president Pradyot Kishore Debbarmun, BJP’s ally in the state government Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) demanded BJP to support IPFT candidates in upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) election and to include one more minister from their party in the cabinet.
Addressing mediapersons IPFT president and revenue minister of the state N C Debbarma and General Secretary and Tribal Welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia last night alleged that a section of state BJP leaders had resorted to motivate campaign that BJP national leaders have turned down their core demand of Tipraland.
“At the beginning of our alliance with BJP during last year assembly elections and afterwards on several occasions we met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, former home minister Rajnath Singh and other local and regional leaders but the Tipraland demand was never turned down. They always assured us to look into the matter but during campaign they talked in reverse, which we condemn,” said Jamatia.
